Description

18th Century Longcase Clock by Moore of Oxford. Elegant case in Oak and Mahogany with long 38" trunk door. 12" break arch brass dial which has the rare feature of a third hand sweeping the dial indicating the date of the month. Highly decorative gilded spandrels and brass line inlay to the hood capitals. Eight day five pillar movement striking on a bell.

Loomes' Clockmakers of the World states:
1. Edward Moore, Oxford, 1714 d.1774.
2. Edward Moore, Oxford (son of above) made clocks between 1751 and 1772.


Current Condition

Excellent for its 250 years of age.
