19th Century Stamped Yew Wood Windsor Dining Chairs ( 1831 - 1841)

Description:   Matched set of four low-back English Windsor chairs, in yew wood with elm seats

The left side edge of each seat is stamped "Nicholson Rockley"
This was the stamp of George Nicholson who made Windsor chairs in Rockley, Nottinghamshire, England from 1831 to 1841

Single ring turned legs with lower ring and straight feet, connected by crinoline stretcher
Three long tapered spindles either side of central back splat
Stylised fretted top splat. Two shaped piercings in lower splat
Three tapered underarm spindles, with regional style of turned underarm support
