Description

A pair of mahogany bergere armchairs with concave scroll cresting over upholstered back. The finely turned arms terminate with baluster knops and roundels with underarm supports tapering to upholstered seats that continue below to form legs that then splay.

The style is that of Biedermeier and the chairs are stamped: Morison and Co., Edinburgh and numbered A8339. It is not clear from records whether Morison in fact made these chairs or whether they were commissioned by them from a French source.
