Description

A small and fine tortoiseshell enamel and silver table casket by Karl Röessler, the sloping top is surmounted by a silver and enamel figure of a lady sitting side saddle on a horse holding a hawk on her right arm, this is on a silver and enamel base, to the sides and top of the casket are painted enamel panels of classical scenes held in place with silver mounts, the front of the casket has two doors which open to reveal a bank of three drawers, each with another enamel panel, as does the inside of each door, in each corner of the casket are varicoloured enamelled columns with mythical silver and enamel female figures sitting above them, the casket sits on four silver and enamel mythical animals, stamped K.R. Vienna.
