TENDING THE FIRE

JOHN GEORGE TODD

Flourished 1866 – 1892 signed
Oil on panel 10 ¼ x 16 ½ inches
Framed size 20 ½ x 26 ½ inches

British artist who studied and lived in London, but worked mainly in France.
He is often confused for the East Anglian still life artist (Henry) George Todd.
John exhibited hid works at the Royal Academy in London and also with Thomas Agnew.
He seems to have lived at Ecouen on the Seine in France for some time.
He was clearly very influenced by the French style of painting from the late 19th Century.
