Sir John Soane, (1753-1837).This piece was initially intended as a mark of respect from Sir John's fellow architects but soon private individuals subscribed to the medal and in March 1835 subscribers met at his house in Lincoln's Inn Field for the presentation. That evening 650 people met at the freemasons Tavern where they each received a medal.
