Description
A late 19th century Japanese Satsuma pottery vase of the Meiji period (!868-1912).
The vase has a signature underneath in gold print on a brown background for Hotoda. The vase is six sided and has wonderful panels of samurai warriors on one side and deity on the other. The neck of the vase is decorated with smaller panels of Japanese ladies in traditional dress and a pair of gilded elephant head handles.
The vase is in very good condition with some crazing to the underside. (Circa 1890)
