Description

During the Middle Ages rhinoceros horn was among the exotic materials thought to possess miraculous powers and were therefore highly prized. The first live rhinoceros seen in Europe since antiquity arrived in Lisbon in 1515 as a diplomatic gift to the King of Portugal.
