Description

This wonderful small mid-18th century writing desk is a truly rare and delightful piece of English oak country furniture. The moulded-edge top is of three planks and has mitred cleated ends; on either end of the base are three graduated drawers and a small single drawer, with brass ring pulls, with a shaped frieze below. One really charming detail is an attractively turned quarter-column set into the inside angle of each of the two front legs; the front legs also have concealed castors in the manner of an extending architect's table; another unusual detail is the quatrefoil cut-out in each of the bracket feet.
