Description

A fine quality Queen Anne walnut & feather banded bureau of absolutely excellent original colour and patina. The top, fall and drawer fronts all inlaid with walnut feather banding, the fall fitted with brass lock escutcheon opening to reveal an inlaid leather writing surface, fitted interior with an arrangement of drawers and pigeon holes with a central well and two secret drawers. Below a cross grain waist moulding above two short and two long drawers, supported on the original bracket feet. A compact piece (main carcase width only 36”) and practical piece of absolutely fine original colour.

Current Condition

Excellent. Minor repairs to chipped veneers, minor old restorations, waxing. Brassware probably early 18th century replacements, feet apparently original.
