George W Horler
fl. 1849 - 1891

Animal and sporting painter. George worked and lived in Cheltenham, Birmingham and Brentford Essex. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, British Institute and Suffolk Street. He was a member of the Royal Society of British Artists. Horler specialised in shooting scenes in the Highlands, he also painted the various animals found there, recording groups of animals living together in the same Scottish landscape. He painted in a bright vibrant realistic style.
