Description

Circa 1860, early Victorian mahogany balloon back armchair. The classical balloon back chair is recently upholstered in green leather, as are the arms and the seat. The arms are padded and have a very stylish frontage and a curved cabriole shape support. There is a large stuff over green leather seat and below there is a shaped frieze on the front which is serpentine. The legs are substantial with carving, turning, and slight fluting. The back legs are solid mahogany and have a slight sweep on them. Substantial chair in excellent condition.
