Ceramic milkjug by Emile Galle

( 1880) France

Artist / Maker / Factory

EMILE GALLÉ (1846-1904)

Dimensions

  11.00cm high (  4.33 inches high)

Description

An early small milkjug with a landscape on the two sides and at the front the head of an animal. Signed on the bottom. Small restoration at one of the feet and one hairline inside. The ceramic by Galle is very soft, so most of the times there are small chips or restorations or haircracks. When this hasn't touched the spirit of the piece I personally do not mind. Ofcourse this is a very different rule for the glass, but for the ceramics the piece doesn't have to be perfect.
