Description

A fine Regency rosewood bookcase. The tooled leather inset top above two grained rosewood shelves, false book spines to the sides.


Literature

The present bookcase relates almost exactly to a design in the Gillows Estimate Sketch books for a bookcase made in 1831 for Ferguson & Co., the London partners. See a similar example illustrated in Susan E Stuart, Gillows of Lancaster and London 1730-1840, 2008, 2 vols., vol.1 p.382
