Description

An Art Nouveau enamel and gemset peacock brooch. The gold head and body enamelled in shades of blue and green with an emerald set plume above, the tail of shaded mauve, white and green plique-á-jour enamel with 'eyes' of opal (two replaced), the tail edged in diamond and ruby, the base of the brooch of green plique-á-jour enamel set with calibré-cut rubies and diamond detail with a single brilliant-cut diamond suspended below. Circa 1890 ( probably by Lucien Gautrait: see similar in Art Nouveau by Vivian Becker, page 122, no. 108).
