Description

Madeleine Lemaire first exhibited at the Paris Salon in1864. She made her name by specializing in Flower Painting and genre subjects, receiving honorable mentions in 1877 and a silver medal in 1900. She was made a Member of the Legion d'Honneur in 1906. She was a friend of the author Marcel Proust and illustrated his "Les Plaisirs et les Jours".


Current Condition

Excellent. Presented in the artist's hand decorated floral surround and a fine french gilt frame
