Description

A late 19th century 36 air music box by Nicole Freres, Geneve, the rosewood music box is profusely inlaid with various woods and sits on a conforming table veneered in burr walnut with two drawers with gilt mounts, which contain the additional five interchangeable barrels, all on hexagonal legs with ebonised turnings to the top and bottom, onto castors.
The interior of the box has the original tune sheet and shows that this box was retailed through Wales & McCulloch, 22, Ludgate Hill, it is numbered 45775, which would date the box towards the end of the 19th century.
A fine music box by one of the best makers and in original condition.
